Welcome to Shoshin, my journal of lessons from this journey we call "life".

Perspective

" A life truly lived is one where every year outshines the one before. "

- Horden Huang

(so fucking wise)

Story

In the past, my life was very mundane.

I would be living the same boring day, again and again.

Go to school, come home, play video games, watch television, sleep, repeat.

I was doing nothing.

When 2023 rolled around, I replaced my frivolous pursuits with getting into shape, and becoming more social. I kept a journal to document areas of improvement, getting better (most) days.

I grew more in 2023 than the past few years combined.

My 2024 outshined 2023, becoming my year of skill acquisition and relationships.

In the middle of my yearly reflection, thats when it dawned on me. I was enjoying the journey and living a better reality, year after year due to my growth. I was truly living like never before.

I have no doubt that this year, 2025 will outshine 2024. I have given it one word, "Reinvention".

Lesson

⥤ A life truly lived is one of transformation and evolution, not stagnation.

It’s easy as shit to stay in comfort of routine, passivity, or mediocrity—living the same day, week, and year over and over. But life truly lived is a journey, where each year brings:

  1. Experiences that push ourselves

  2. Growth - Physically, Intellectually, emotionally, or spiritually, becoming closer to our true selves.

  3. Purpose that gives us direction and fulfillment.

Every year is a opportunity for massive growth, 1.01^365 = 37.7x

You don't want to grow old, and look back on what you could've done, experienced and potential relationships. Regret comes from not trying, from staying still when life calls you to move.

Challenge

➢ I want you to answer a question that you probably gloss over or lie about.

One imposed on us by society's norms.

How are you?

Sit with yourself and answer that question.

Having a bad day? we all have.

Zoom out.

Think in months and years. Its so easy for us to get tangled in our daily life, that we don't take the time to appreciate our growth.

Remember, its who you become on the journey.
