Perspective

"Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success."

- Napoleon Hill

My story

This summer, I got the opportunity to intern for a law firm.

Disaster stuck on interview day.

Right before I left the house, my mind was replaying a scene from Suits, where the main character stumbled into a room of candidates interviewing for a law position.

I was confused on why people had binders, because I had nothing.

Upon searching it up, I yelled SHIT.

Forgetting my resume and cover letter, I scrambled to my printer, praying that it would work.

It did not work.

I thought I was done for.

I realized I could ask the receptionist to help me, so I entered the firm and apologized immensely. He laughed and was like "No problem man."

After thanking him, we got to know each other and I found out that he was quite cool.

I landed the position and I found myself talking to him everyday.

Funny thing is, if I’d walked in with everything perfectly in hand, I might never have connected with him at all. The failure of forgetting to print my papers, ended up being THE SEED that grew into a great relationship and a better experience at the firm.

Lets go deep.

We all had moments where we thought we failed in the moment, but we somehow got a better result.

When we face obstacles, its easy to focus on whats going wrong, our minds clouded with disappointment. However, failure is often the most powerful teacher we have, just like not touching a hot stove.

We didn't give a shit about what our parents were saying, but when we felt the pain.... that hit.

It’s those moments of discomfort and setbacks that teach us the most valuable insights: what didn’t work, where we fell short, and how to succeed next time.

Every failure is a opportunity for growth, learning and eventual success. The key is to shift your perspective, to start looking for the fruits hidden within the failure.

Take action.

Next time you face a setback, ask yourself: What’s the lesson here? What’s the opportunity I’m not seeing?

Start training your mind to see failures as part of the journey.

Think of failure as like a seed, often buried under the weight of frustration.

When the seed is nourished with introspection and perseverance, it can bloom into something beautiful.

When you can do that, you’ll find that every failure really does bring with it the seed of an equivalent—or even greater—success.

Remember, its who you become on the journey.
